- This rebate comes after two consecutive price reductions in April and is connected to the recent revival of the Naira-for-Crude policy, which mandates that domestic refiners settle crude oil payments using the Naira currency.
- Marketers initially pay N835 per litre but receive a N10 rebate after loading the fuel, enabling retail prices to be set between N830 and N835 per litre.
- The Dangote refinery operates at a 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity and has contributed to reducing Nigeria’s fuel importation from 44.6 million to 14.7 million litres daily between August 2024 and April 2025.
- This pricing strategy aims to stabilize domestic fuel supply, promote market competitiveness, and could pressure other marketers to adjust their prices across Nigeria’s downstream sector.
