NIA Chargesheets 13 in Pakistan-Linked Ghaziabad Espionage Case
The agency says the accused trespassed into sensitive areas, installed spy cameras and sent geo-tagged images and videos to Pakistan-based handlers.
- On Saturday, The National Investigation filed a chargesheet against fifteen individuals in the Pakistan-linked Ghaziabad espionage case before the Special Court NIA in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
- Investigators established that the network operated under instructions from Pakistan-based handlers Shahzad Bhatti and Ajmal Gujjar, engaging in a criminal conspiracy to transmit sensitive information and geo-tagged photographs of vital installations to an enemy country.
- The NIA named Praveen, Raj Valmiki, Shiva Valmiki, and others as accused; members illegally accessed prohibited areas to install spy cameras and facilitated the use of Indian SIM cards for unlawful activities.
- So far, 21 individuals have been arrested in the case; a Detailed Investigation Report regarding five juveniles was submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board in Ghaziabad on May 18, 2026.
- The chargesheet invokes the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and section 18 of the UA Act, reflecting the severity of alleged activities prejudicial to India's sovereignty and integrity, with further investigation remaining in progress.
