Waiting List for Planned Hospital Treatment Rises for Third Month in a Row
More than 191,000 patients in England waited over 52 weeks for routine treatment at August end despite record elective and cancer care delivery over summer, NHS data shows.

- Thousands of patients face very long waits, with 1,416 waiting more than 18 months, 191,493 waiting over 52 weeks, and 12,805 waiting more than 65 weeks at the end of August.
- A&E and ambulance pressure meant four-hour A&E target performance fell to 75.0% last month, while corridor care waits rose to 44,765 in September.
