- Moyo was stopped near Diepkloof by assailants in two vehicles—a minibus and a Toyota Hilux—who blocked his path and opened fire on his vehicle.
- Emergency responders confirmed Moyo was deceased at the scene around 9:30 a.m., leading to a temporary shutdown of the Soweto Highway segment between Immink Drive and the N1 while authorities commenced an investigation.
- Theo Malele, spokesperson for the GNTA, indicated that the incident is believed to be connected to the ongoing violence affecting the taxi industry, which has resulted in 59 fatalities in Gauteng this year.
- Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, the provincial official responsible for Roads and Transport in Gauteng, condemned the killing, urged for calm and collaboration, announced plans to visit Moyo’s family, and called on police to apprehend those accountable.
