New Hampshire Veterans Move Into Dedicated Affordable Housing
KINGSTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE, JUL 17 – The campus offers six furnished units with private baths and multiple therapy options to support veterans facing PTSD and depression, officials said.
- The Veterans Residence at 186 Main St. welcomed its first veteran residents after the ribbon-cutting, with housing units just completed, according to Housing Support New Hampshire.
- Faced with housing shortages, organizers designed a shared living model for veterans, according to Executive Director Paula Newcomb.
- The six furnished, single-occupancy units include private baths and one fully handicapped accessible unit and resident services will be provided through the Veterans Administration and Housing Support.
- At the ribbon-cutting, Rob Dapice said the new facility represents the kind of housing that is needed throughout the state, while Alan Aldenberg said he can't wait to see the impact this space will have on the people who live there.
- Next year, the entire project is expected to be completed, and campus will include a space for veteran services, a hotel, conference center, plus equine, canine and aquatic therapy to support veterans through PTSD and depression.
