This is what Science Alert. To destroy cancer cells, according to scientists, LEDs that emit light in the near infrared range are combined with nanoscopic tin oxide flakes, known as SnoX nanoflakes. The difference of the new approach is to use inexpensive LEDs instead of specialized ladders of the seers. This reduces the risk of damage to surrounding tissues and makes therapy more accessible and less invasive, compared to chemotherapy or radiother…
Scientists develop light-based cancer treatment that targets tumors without harming healthy cells - Times Kuwait
The technique works by generating localized heat from light exposure, which selectively kills cancer cells while sparing normal tissues. Experts emphasize the need for further clinical trials to fully validate safety, dosage, and effectiveness across different cancer types. If successful, LED-based phototherapy could soon become a mainstream tool in the fight against cancer, complementing or even replacing some existing therapies. In what is see…
A new contribution to the treatment of cancer is being made by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), through innovation in the application of photodynamic therapy. In the framework of a Fodecyt Regular project, they develop molecules that – by absorbing light from the visible spectrum – generate species with therapeutic value and applications in the fight against this disease.
