New four-lane road link between Hungary and Romania set for 2029

The first section of the railway connecting Nyíregyháza with Szatmárnémeti in Romania will be completed this fall. The government plans to build the second section, which has just been launched, by 2029.
The fate of the M49 expressway has been decided, as the government has decided to continue the second phase of the investment. Thanks to this, a direct expressway connection will be built between the M3 motorway and the Romanian border, and thus Szatmárnémeti, by mid-2029. Minister of Transport and Investment Dávid Vitézy reported on the details of the development in a Facebook post.
Hungary is moving forward with the M49 express road project, which will ensure a quick link between Satu Mare and the M3 motorway. The first important part of the route, between the M3 motorway and the town of Ököritófülpös, will be open for circulation this autumn.
If everything goes well, we will be able to move more comfortably this year.
