Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Says CJP Acting Like AAP's B-Team, Dares It to Protest in Punjab
Gupta said the voter roll exercise is routine and accused the group of protesting only in Delhi while ignoring other states.
On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta accused the Cockroach Janta Party of acting as the Aam Aadmi Party's "B-team," challenging the group to protest in Punjab over an anti-drug activist's murder.
CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were sent to five-day judicial custody after breaching barricades at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday to demand Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Gupta defended the SIR, noting it was conducted previously in 2002 by the Election Commission, and alleged that opposition parties are "colluding with foreign elements" to harm India after electoral losses.
Anti-Drug activist Parvinder Singh was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on Tuesday, prompting Gupta to question why the CJP ignores issues in opposition-ruled states instead of protesting there.
Gupta claimed the public remains satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development works and slammed the CJP's insistence on protesting at the denotified Jantar Mantar site, saying they were "destroying" the city.
