Playwright Billy Roche came to prominence in the late 1980s with his Wexford Trilogy at the Bush Theatre in London. He became the troubadour of small-town Irish life, painting sharply characterised pictures of friendship, work and romance. Of Mornington, written a few years ago but only now getting its professional premiere (Ad Personam Cultural Events Ltd and Gary Lydon Productions) moves in these same social circles.
