New 3D material enables brain cells to communicate

Summary by Medical Xpress
Until now, conventional 3D cell cultures have often been either too rigid or too unstable to realistically reproduce the complex interactions between brain cells. Researchers at Kiel University (CAU) have now developed a novel 3D material on which human brain cells can grow and exchange signals in the lab. This makes it possible to study neuronal processes and cell communication much closer to real physiological conditions.
