Trump Says Netanyahu ‘Knows Who the Boss Is’: Axios
On Friday, President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to meet "soon" in the United States following a phone conversation regarding the 250th Independence Day.
Tensions have simmered in recent weeks, with reports that Trump reportedly called Netanyahu "crazy" last month, as foreign policy and security interests have increasingly diverged over the past two months.
Trump told Axios on Saturday that he maintains a good relationship with Netanyahu, though he noted the prime minister "knows who the boss is," while indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran continue in Doha.
Seeking to phase out American financial assistance, Netanyahu stated, "It's like welfare; I don't want it," while a White House meeting offers significant political value ahead of Israel's October elections.
The meeting may take place following President Trump's travel to Turkey for the NATO summit on July 7-8, though officials have not yet confirmed an official date or specific venue.
