NCDOT shuts down portion of NC 12 amid severe weather

OCRACOKE ISLAND, N.C. (WNCT) -- NCDOT is closing NC12 between the ferry terminal and the National Park Service Pony Pens due to severe weather conditions. NCDOT NC 12 will re-evaluate conditions at first light Tuesday morning.

Part of NC12 closed due to "deteriorating conditions"

OCRACOKE, N.C. (WAVY) - The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) closed part of NC12 on the north end of Ocracoke Island Monday afternoon because of "deteriorating conditions." Shortly before 4 p.m., NCDOT said it was closing NC12 between the ferry terminal and the National Park Service Pony Pens. An image taken at 3:37 p.m. showed overwash on the road.
