NCAA revokes eligibility of 6 more college basketball players as it continues sports betting probe
Six players from three universities lost NCAA eligibility for manipulating performances and aiding sports betting during the 2024-25 season, the NCAA Committee on Infractions said.
- The NCAA revoked eligibility of six players, including Cedquavious Hunter and Chatton `BJ` Freeman, in three separate cases at University of New Orleans, Mississippi Valley State University and Arizona State University.
- The NCAA said last month it had been investigating at least 30 current or former players for gambling issues during the 2024-25 regular season.
- Evidence reviewed by investigators shows three players manipulated their performances in seven games from December through January and a student-athlete reported Dyquavian Short told him not to score after New Orleans lost 86-61 on Dec. 28, 2024.
- Following the NCAA's review, the University of New Orleans suspended all three implicated student-athletes for the remainder of the season after receiving an NCAA tip about game manipulation.
- Earlier this year the NCAA had already uncovered violations involving Freeman providing information to Mykell Robinson between November and December 2024, and bans at Fresno State and San Jose State in September.
