NBA says viewership of regular-season games was up 86% over last season
The league said 170 million U.S. viewers watched games, its best regular-season audience in 24 years.
On Wednesday, The NBA announced that 170 million people in the United States watched games across four primary broadcast platforms this year, representing an 86% increase over last season and the league's highest viewership in 24 years.
Valued at over $76 billion, the new 11-year media rights deal signed in 2024 commenced at the start of this season, introducing the current four-platform broadcast structure across ABC, ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, NBC, Peacock, and NBA TV.
Additional viewership highlights include 57 telecasts reaching an average of 2 million viewers, while NBA Cup group play games surged 90% from last season. Fans collectively watched more than 920 million hours of content, a 25% increase.
Record engagement extended beyond television, with The NBA's social media channels generating 228 billion views this season, up 13% from last season. Arena attendance over the past three seasons surpassed any comparable period in league history.
The SoFI NBA Play-In Tournament concludes on Friday before playoffs begin on Saturday. The league has scheduled the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery for May 10.
