In May of last year, the Supreme Court sentenced the Congress leader to one year in prison for a 1988 road rage case. It was alleged that Sidhu had physically assaulted Gurnam Singh, who subsequently passed away in the hospital. Punjab Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa said on Friday that the Punjab government has no objection to Sidhu's release.
