Navalny Team Claims Putin Owns Luxury Estate on Crimea’s Black Sea Coast
The Anti-Corruption Foundation alleges Putin's Cape Aya palace includes a private hospital and spa, funded via a network linked to his close associates, costing about $127 million.
- On December 30, the Anti-Corruption Foundation published an investigation reported by The Insider alleging a luxury palace at Cape Aya in occupied Crimea belongs to President Vladimir Putin, with FBK obtaining photographs and architectural plans of the property.
- After Russia's 2014 annexation, officials said the estate bought in 2007 by Viktor Yanukovych's family was rebuilt to Federal Protective Service standards and placed under Presidential Property Management Department control.
- Floor plans published by FBK show a private medical center, spa wing with indoor pool, movie theater and helipad, with Navalny's allies estimating construction at about 10 billion rubles .
- FBK alleges the payment network mirrors financing involving Vladimir Kolbin, Yury and Boris Kovalchuk, and offshore structures used for the Gelendzhik residence.
- Given the 2021 precedent, Navalny's team released a widely viewed investigation into a Gelendzhik palace they said cost more than $1 billion, and the Kremlin denied those claims while protests erupted shortly before Navalny's imprisonment.
