Check Your Account as Nationwide Starts Paying £100 to Eligible Customers
Nationwide said the payout will total about £440 million and comes as the lender adds new savings and switching incentives for members.
On Wednesday, June 10, Nationwide Building Society began distributing £100 'Fairer Share' payments to roughly 4.4 million eligible members, totaling £440 million in payouts.
Nationwide introduced the annual 'Fairer Share' scheme in 2023 to share profits directly with members who maintain a 'deep relationship' through banking, savings, or mortgages.
Chief Executive Dame Debbie Crosbie said 'more people than ever are choosing Nationwide,' citing record growth of over one million new current accounts opened in 12 months.
To celebrate the payouts, the building society partnered with presenter Maya Jama to launch 'Fairer Share Drops,' a UK-wide treasure hunt featuring 100 vintage items priced from £5.
While Nationwide aims to run the giveaway annually, the board stresses future payments are not guaranteed and depend on financial performance; Virgin Money customers are excluded this year.
