National athlete Necmettin Erbakan Akyüz announced that an investigation was launched into him due to his support for Palestine during the ceremony where he won a medal at the European Championship and that his championship was cancelled. Akyüz, who was in Egypt, threw his medal into the Nile River to protest the tyranny against him and Palestine.
