Leading Iranian human rights lawyer detained in Tehran, daughter says

- The 63-year-old lawyer, a 2012 Sakharov Prize recipient, has frequently defended activists and women opposing headscarf mandates. Her husband, activist Reza Khandan, is currently serving a prison sentence at Tehran's Evin prison.
- During a brief call Thursday, Sotoudeh told family members the Intelligence Ministry detained her and confiscated all communication devices. Authorities provided no official reason for the arrest.
- This detention follows news that imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi suffered a heart attack on March 24. Lawyer Chirinne Ardakani described Mohammadi's health as worsening while held at Zanjan Prison.
