Brian Poile Leaving Predators After 16 Years
Blake joins Chris MacFarland in a revamped front office after eight seasons as Kings general manager and five playoff trips without a series win.
On Friday, the Nashville Predators hired Rob Blake as executive vice president of hockey operations to work alongside President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Chris MacFarland.
The hiring follows the recent departure of former executive Barry Trotz, which gave MacFarland control of the franchise after he stepped down.
Blake, a 56-year-old Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman, played 1,270 NHL games and spent eight seasons as general manager of the Los Angeles Kings.
"I am grateful to work with Chris, who is one of the best general managers in today's game," Blake said, noting he will assist in staff development and player recruitment.
MacFarland said he will rely on Blake to build a winning team in 'Smashville' while executing long- and short-term strategies for the franchise.
