Newport closes Easton's beach ahead of Hurricane Erin weather
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Newport said it was closing Easton’s Beach starting Wednesday night due to weather coming from Hurricane Erin. Swimming will be off-limits and staff will be on the beach to prevent swimming. All south shore beaches closed to swimming
(Aug. 20, 2025) The town has closed all south shore beaches to swimming, including Surfside, Cisco, Miacomet, Ladies, Nobadeer and Madaket, due to high surf and dangerous rip currents generated by Hurricane Erin, currently moving north off the Florida-Georgia border.
