Abdul Jalloh, an illegal immigrant with over 30 arrests, was charged after fatally stabbing Stephanie Minter at a Fairfax County bus stop last month, officials said.
- At a Hybla Valley bus stop last month, detectives charged Abdul Jalloh with second-degree murder after the victim was found stabbed, Fairfax County Police said.
- DHS said on Sunday, March 1, that Jalloh is in the U.S. illegally and described him as a `career criminal` with over 30 arrests in Fairfax County.
- Evidence reviewed by investigators indicates surveillance video and witness interviews helped detectives identify the suspect after he and the victim were last seen getting off a bus, and he was arrested at a Richmond Highway liquor store after an employee called 911.
- ICE asked Virginia authorities not to release Jalloh without notifying them and said it lodged a detainer in 2020 and obtained an order of removal, prompting federal enforcement action.
- Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano's office previously dropped most charges against Jalloh despite a past malicious wounding conviction, and county policy prevents police from sharing information with ICE, with critics citing `We got three problems` as said by Herrity.
