Mum Who Murdered Newborn Baby Girl Jailed for 'at Least' 19 Years
On Thursday, Nicole Blain received a life sentence at the High Court in Glasgow for the "violent and brutal" murder of her 19-day-old daughter, Thea Wilson.
Blain attacked the infant at her Greenock flat on July 14, 2023, after losing her temper, inflicting three skull fractures, brain damage, and bleeding behind the eyes.
Pathologist Leighanne Deboys concluded Thea suffered "significant non-accidental head trauma," while Judge Lord Scott dismissed Blain's "absurd" claims that another child was responsible.
Cries of "monster" rang out in the public gallery as Blain was led away, following her earlier social media rants demanding people stop discussing the death.
A minimum 19-year term must be served before parole eligibility, as Lord Scott stated Blain showed "not a shred of remorse" after inflicting "catastrophic, deadly violence.
