Muchova beats Gauff in epic tie-break to reach final
Muchova saved a match point and won the deciding tiebreak to reach her second Grand Slam final, her first at Wimbledon.
On Thursday, 10th-seeded Karolina Muchova defeated American Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 in a gripping semifinal on Centre Court, reaching her first Wimbledon final.
Muchova overcame a history of injury, including 10 months of wrist surgery recovery in 2023 and 2024, while Gauff navigated recent coaching changes under biomechanics specialist Gavin MacMillan hired in August 2025.
During the deciding tiebreak, Gauff held a match point at 9-8 but hit a drop shot into the net; Muchova capitalized, clinching the 2-hour 35-minute contest in sweltering 33C heat on Centre Court.
Earlier, 9th-seeded Linda Noskova secured the other final spot by defeating Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-4, setting up the first all-Czech women's final in Wimbledon history and ensuring a third Czech champion in four years.
The final confirms the Czech tennis pipeline's dominance, following titles by Barbora Krejcikova in 2024 and Marketa Vondrousova in 2023, with both finalists inspired by childhood idol Petra Kvitova's grass-court legacy.
