Dog rescued from Ben Nevis suspected to have eaten discarded cannabis
The Labrador was carried off the mountain by 14 volunteer rescuers and made a full recovery after veterinary treatment, officials said.
On Sunday, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team volunteers rescued Tokyo, a black Labrador, after she collapsed midway up the 4,413ft Ben Nevis following ingestion of discarded cannabis during the ascent.
Carrying the 25kg Labrador down the mountain alone was impossible, owner Christina Bluhme noted, requiring 14 volunteers to assist as Tokyo lost the use of her legs and drifted in and out of consciousness.
At Crown Vets in Fort William, Tokyo received emergency care and made a full recovery by the following day, confirming the successful veterinary intervention coordinated by the rescue team.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team deputy team leader Astie Cameron confirmed Tokyo's recovery, noting her rescue was one of four call-outs on Sunday, placing significant strain on volunteer resources.
Cameron warned that discarded drugs and other toxic substances can sometimes be found even in beautiful outdoor places, urging fellow dog owners to remain aware of unpredictable environmental risks.
