'Most wanted' British man who imported large amounts of cocaine arrested in Spain
The appeal marks 20 years of Operation Captura, and officials said 98 of 111 fugitives named in the campaign have been caught.
On Thursday, the National Crime Agency , Spanish police, and Crimestoppers launched a "rogues gallery" identifying 12 most wanted fugitives believed hiding in Spain, including Tenerife, Marbella, Alicante, and Malaga.
Operation Captura has operated for 20 years, capturing 98 of 111 named suspects as fugitives blend into British expatriate communities to evade detection while continuing to offend.
The list includes Simon Dutton, 49, wanted for £1.5 million in drug importations, and Kevin Thomas Parle, 45, sought for two murders; many fugitives use fake passports or surgery to alter appearances.
Authorities warn expatriates and holidaymakers: "These are not the people you want in your neighbourhood." Anyone with information can contact Crimestoppers anonymously in the UK at 0800 555 111.
NCA deputy director of international Rick Jones stated the agency remains determined to "leave no stone unturned," emphasizing Spain is not a safe haven for fugitives.
