The elected member of the Laurent Jacobelli National Rally had called it a "scratch" the ex-macronist Belkhir Belhaddad, during a ministerial visit in 2023.
His victim, Belkhir Belhaddad, also a Member of Parliament for Moselle, found "incomprehensible" that the court had not retained the "racist character" of the statements.
The contentious remarks were made by the deputy of the National Rally in Hayange, Moselle, in 2023, on the margins of an official visit by the then government spokesman, Olivier Véran, where many local elected representatives were present.
Laurent Jacobelli minimized the facts, arguing that the word "rape" is "frequently used" to "mean that someone is acting badly" before the correctional court at the hearing on 17 June.

The Thionville court issued its decision this Tuesday in the case between the RN spokesman and the non-registered MP of Moselle Belkhir Belhaddad. Laurent Jacobelli is sentenced to 300 euros with suspended fine for contempt and defamation. He had called the elected one "racaille" in October 2023.
