Michigan's Morez Johnson Staying in NBA Draft
Johnson improved his draft stock after a strong combine and is projected as a top-20 pick, according to mock drafts.
Michigan forward Morez Johnson Jr. announced on Tuesday, May 19, that he is staying in the 2026 NBA Draft and leaving the Wolverines after one memorable season.
During his lone season at Michigan, Johnson averaged 13.1 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 62.3% from the field as the national champions' defensive anchor.
His decision followed a strong showing at last week's NBA Draft Combine, where the 6-foot-9 forward drilled 17 of 25 three-pointers and climbed into first-round projection range.
Coach Dusty May has already replenished the frontcourt by adding transfers Moustapha Thiam from Cincinnati, J.P. Estrella from Tennessee, and Jalen Reed from LSU.
ESPN's Jeremy Woo projects Johnson as a potential top-20 pick, describing him as a "glue-guy candidate" for teams seeking athletic frontcourt versatility and defensive switching ability.
