Two Charged with Homicide Concealment, Dismemberment in Lake Mattoon Case
Investigators say the charges follow searches that found additional remains and evidence, and they expect more charges as the case continues.
On Thursday, Illinois State Police announced that Robin Turner, 62, and James Adams, 26, face charges of concealment of a homicide and dismembering a human body following the discovery of human remains in Lake Mattoon.
Boaters discovered a severed arm in Lake Mattoon on Sunday, June 28, prompting the investigation after witnesses initially believed the remains were dead fish rather than human remains.
Investigators identified the victim as 38-year-old Dalewayne Turner of Plainfield after releasing photos of "distinct tattoos," including a skeleton holding a Green Bay Packers helmet, to seek public assistance.
Officers arrested Adams and Turner on July 1 after executing a search warrant at a home in the 2400 block of Ruth Fitzgerald Drive in Plainfield, where additional evidence was recovered.
Court records indicate Adams and Turner filed emergency protection orders against Dalewayne Turner last spring, while state police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
