Deeply Distressing: J-K CM on Budgam Minor Rape Case

On Sunday, the body of a 12-year-old girl was recovered in Budgam, central Kashmir, after she went missing Saturday evening; police are treating the case as a suspected rape and murder.
Budgam SSP Hariprasad K K reported the body was found at 7:15 AM Sunday approximately 200 metres from the girl's home, with police registering a kidnapping FIR Saturday night.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called the incident "deeply distressing" and pledged full government support, while social welfare minister Sakeena Itoo visited the bereaved family to assure assistance.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti termed the incident "shocking" and "unsettling," while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq demanded a "thorough, transparent and time-bound" investigation into the alleged rape and murder.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the Valley, prompting calls for exemplary punishment and serious societal introspection regarding child safety amid deep community anxiety.
