Miss England to host first-ever makeup-free pageant in 98 years
Finalists will appear with and without make-up as Miss England stages its first makeup-free round in 98 years, organizers said.
On November 17, Miss England finalists will walk the grand final catwalk completely makeup-free in Leicester, marking the first time in the pageant's 98-year history.
Each of the 38 finalists will reveal their natural look during the 'Bare Face Top Model' round this year, created to challenge unrealistic beauty standards and social media obsession.
Organizer Angie Beasley said the initiative "challenges modern beauty standards and the pressure to look picture-perfect," while finalist Angel Patel remarked, "Posting a selfie with no makeup on isn't always an easy thing to do in today."
Evaluating contestants without makeup marks a significant shift, as only two beauty queens have competed makeup-free in the final before; the winner will advance to Miss World 2027.
Promoting a "bold celebration of confidence and authenticity," the pageant encourages women to feel comfortable in their own skin, asserting contestants do not need filters or flawless skin to be beautiful.
