The icy winter weather continues to grip Austria, and many places were able to enjoy fresh snowfall: The coldest spot in the country was Schwarzau im Freiwald at an altitude of 788 meters on Friday night. According to Geosphere Austria, the thermometer in the village, part of the municipality of Moorbad Harbach in the Gmünd district of Lower Austria, reached minus 16.1 degrees Celsius. Zwettl came in second with minus 14.2 degrees Celsius.
