Natasha Howard, Nia Coffey Star as Lynx Dominate Portland
On Monday, the Minnesota Lynx defeated the visiting Portland Fire 107-74 at Target Center, with Natasha Howard leading seven players in double-figure scoring with 18 points.
The Portland Fire, a rebooted expansion franchise entering the league this year, returned to Target Center for a reunion with forward Bridget Carleton, who spent four seasons with Minnesota.
Nia Coffey contributed 15 points, sinking all three 3-point attempts in a 35-point first quarter, while the Lynx shot 54.5% from the field and recorded a season-high 31 assists.
Minnesota improved to 5-1 in the WNBA Commissioner's Cup round-robin schedule, though Las Vegas needs only to beat Dallas or Phoenix to secure the Western Conference spot.
Wednesday marks the final night of scheduled Commissioner's Cup games, with the Lynx traveling to Los Angeles and the Fire hosting Seattle.
