Milwaukee Honors Longtime Brewers Broadcaster Bob Uecker with Giant Downtown Mural
The mural measures 80 feet wide and 100 feet high, and the first 500 adults at the dedication received Miller Lite cans.
On Tuesday, June 30, Milwaukee held a tailgate-themed dedication for an 80-foot-by-100-foot mural of longtime broadcaster Bob Uecker at the Wintrust Financial Center on North Jackson Street.
Uecker, who died January 16, 2025, at age 90, broadcast Brewers games for 54 seasons and remained loyal to Milwaukee despite national celebrity status from acting and commercials.
Artist Mauricio Ramirez, who previously painted a 53-foot-high Giannis Antetokounmpo mural, designed the piece. Brewers manager Pat Murphy and team captain Christian Yelich attended alongside family members including Judy Uecker.
Former broadcast partner Lane Grindle remarked that Uecker's legacy would "echo forever" in the baseball community, as fans offered a communal toast to "Mr. Baseball" with costumed sausage mascots present.
This downtown mural joins two existing statues at American Family Field honoring the broadcaster. Ramirez said, "It's an honor to have this relationship with Bob Uecker through this mural," reflecting community connection.
