VENICE, ITALY, JUL 15 – The Milano Cortina 2026 medals feature a dual design symbolizing unity and support, with 1,146 medals crafted using renewable energy and recycled metals, organizers said.
- The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics medals were presented in Venice on a Tuesday, exactly 206 days ahead of the Games starting on February 6, 2026.
- The medals were produced by Italy’s official minting and printing organization, utilizing recycled metals and sustainable energy sources to reflect the spirit of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- The medals, symbolizing unity between the Olympic and Paralympic Games, are composed of two sections and measure 8 centimeters across with a thickness of 1 centimeter; the gold versions weigh 500 grams.
- Federica Pellegrini, Italy's 2008 Olympic swimming champion, took part in the medal presentation ceremony held on a boat arriving at Venice’s historic Palazzo Balbi along the Grand Canal.
- A total of 1,146 medals will be distributed among 16 Olympic sports, with 735 athletes set to receive awards, underscoring the Games' recognition of athletic excellence.
