Michael Mann To Be Honored With France’s Lumière Award
RHÔNE, AUVERGNE-RHÔNE-ALPES, JUL 11 – Michael Mann is recognized for his 40-year filmmaking legacy including hits like Heat and Collateral and his work with major actors, festival director Thierry Frémaux said.
- Michael Mann will receive the Lumière Award on October 17 at the 17th Lumière Festival in Lyon, running from October 11 to 19, 2025.
- The award honors Mann for his 40-year career and his connection to cinema history, joining past recipients like Scorsese and Eastwood.
- Mann has gained recognition for directing influential films including a gripping crime drama featuring De Niro and Pacino, a historical epic with Daniel Day-Lewis, and a thriller starring Tom Cruise, collaborating with numerous celebrated actors throughout his career.
- Thierry Frémaux, director of the Lumière Festival, praised Mann as a highly influential filmmaker with a lasting impact on cinema and called the opportunity to honor him a dream come true.
