MGK Reveals Blackout Tattoo Gave Him Illness That Turned His Skin Yellow
MGK said the artist advised a two-year process, but he finished it in two months and developed swelling, bleeding and sickness.
In a Billboard Canada interview published Monday, musician Machine Gun Kelly revealed that rushing his extensive 'dark mode' blackout tattoo in 2023 caused serious health complications, completing the work in two months instead of the recommended two years.
Celebrity tattoo artist ROXX recommended a two-year timeline for safety, but the musician created an intensive daily routine at her L.A. studio that overwhelmed his body's immune system.
After the ink impacted his lymph nodes during the first week, the musician experienced temporary paralysis and 'yellow' skin, leaving him unable to move parts of his upper body.
Despite the physical toll, the singer described the experience as a transformative obstacle and emerged feeling 'extremely inspired' and more clear-headed, claiming the ordeal represented necessary personal reinvention.
Following the blackout process, the musician noted his creative output has accelerated, with his 'pen moving at 100 miles per hour,' as he continues shedding past phases of his life.
