Meyer Werft Presents “Vision” for a Battery-Electric Cruise Ship

- At Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami next week, MEYER WERFT will present Project Vision, the world's first 100% battery-electric cruise ship.
- Chief Sales Officer Thomas Weigend announced a partnership with Corvus Energy to develop the vessel, which could be delivered by 2031 if ordered this year.
- Designed with a gross tonnage of about 82,000, Vision accommodates about 1,856 passengers while reducing CO2 emissions by 95%.
- Current battery technology enables navigation along European routes such as Barcelona to Civitavecchia, though approximately 100 seaports across Europe must offer maritime charging infrastructure by 2030.
- After 231 years of operations, MEYER WERFT is now 80% owned by the federal government and the state of Lower Saxony, with the founding family retaining 20%.
