The government of Mexico rejected the report of the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CDF), calling it “tentious and lacking in legal rigour.”
On Thursday, the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) asked the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, to refer to the General Assembly the case of disappearances in Mexico, in order to find measures aimed at supporting his government in the prevention, investigation, punishment and eradication of this crime, which, he warned, could amount to “crimes against humanity.”
