James Hetfield Bemoans Political "Entertainers" During Rant at Sphere
Hetfield said Metallica avoids political speeches and is focused on entertaining fans as the band continues its 24-show Las Vegas residency.
On Saturday, October 10, Metallica frontman James Hetfield addressed fans at The Sphere in Las Vegas, declaring the band's focus remains on music rather than political influence.
His comments arrived during recent industry debates, including rapper Macklemore's removal from Ed Sheeran's tour following an onstage speech regarding the conflict in Gaza.
Hetfield stated, "Metallica is not here... to influence you with their bullshit," adding the group aims to "forget about all the outside shit." Metallica's agenda is love, energy and heavy music.
Previously telling La Tercera in 2017, Hetfield has maintained a consistent neutral stance, saying "Everyone has one, but I'll keep mine to myself." This long-standing position reflects his philosophy on politics.
The band, currently four shows into a 24-date residency at The Sphere, will resume performances on October 15 and continue through March 2027. This extended run positions Metallica as the venue's first major metal act.
