Facebook parent Meta makes public its ChatGPT rival Llama
- Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, has developed an artificial intelligence system called LLaMA 2 that competes with ChatGPT and Google's Bard.
- In a partnership with Microsoft, Meta is making LLaMA 2 available for free for both research and commercial use, in an effort to promote open-source innovation and improve the safety and security of AI technology.
- The AI models can be downloaded directly or accessed through Microsoft's Azure cloud platform, and Meta also plans to make them available through other partners such as Amazon Web Services and AI startup Hugging Face.
