NVIDIA and Meta Deepen Their AI Alliance—and the Spending Numbers Are Enormous
Meta commits to billions in Nvidia chips, including millions of GPUs and CPUs, to power hyperscale AI data centers for training and inference, expanding prior multi-year deals.
- On Tuesday, Meta expanded its multi-year partnership with Nvidia to include GPUs, CPUs, networking and confidential computing for hyperscale data centers powered by millions of chips.
- Amid rising AI budgets, Meta plans to increase AI infrastructure spending this year to between $115 billion and $135 billion, deepening reliance on Nvidia and reducing use of rival suppliers Google and AMD.
- Meta's deal includes large-scale deployments of Nvidia's Vera CPUs and millions of Nvidia Blackwell and Rubin GPUs, Nvidia said.
- By supplying both GPUs and CPUs, Nvidia stands to capture more customer spend and deepen its role in Meta's AI stack while rivals Google, AMD, and Broadcom face heightened competitive pressure.
- Notably, Meta became the first major buyer to purchase Nvidia's Grace CPU, while Nvidia's Vera CPU and networking tech support a 'soup-to-nuts' compute approach, analysts said.
