In 1970, Messner and his younger brother climbed Nanga Parbat via the incredibly challenging and previously unclimbed Rupal crag. At the summit, Günther began to show signs of severe altitude sickness.
On his birthday, the South Tyrolean mountaineer documented the return with a video published on his social channels, repeating the gesture of then before the ascent that cost his brother his life
