A World War II monument in Meriden was damaged Sunday when a pickup truck crashed into it, according to police. It happened around 8:40 p.m. by the median barrier on Memorial Boulevard where it separates Broad Street just south of East Main Street. The 29-year-old driver of the pickup lost control and went up over the curb of the median, spun around and the truck ended up on its side, according to police.
