‘Melania’ Director to Scout ‘Rush Hour 4’ Sites While with Trump in China
Ratner will scout filming sites and meet with cast and crew as Trump pushes to revive the franchise, which has earned more than $850 million worldwide.
- Director Brett Ratner joined President Donald Trump's delegation to China on Tuesday, boarding Air Force One to scout filming locations for the upcoming movie Rush Hour 4 during the three-day trip to Beijing.
- President Trump has long championed a revival of the buddy-cop franchise, which earned more than $850 million globally across three releases, and reportedly urged Paramount Pictures to develop the sequel intended to film largely in China.
- Ratner's career stalled in 2017 after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, including model Natasha Henstridge; he recently returned to directing with the Amazon-funded documentary Melania, his first feature since the 2014 movie Hercules.
- Joining the delegation are business leaders including Tesla's Elon Musk and Apple's Tim Cook, though a White House official did not clarify Ratner's official status within the group.
