Chinese e-commerce giant Meituan issued a profit warning on February 13, projecting a net loss of approximately 23.3 billion to 24.3 billion yuan in 2025, a reversal from a profit of 35.808 billion yuan in the previous year. The company stated that the main reasons were increased investment in its ecosystem and overseas expansion to cope with fierce competition, and the loss trend may continue into the first quarter of 2026.
The Chinese 'superapp' Meitian, which offers entertainment services, travel and food deliveries at home, has reported this Friday that it anticipates losses from 23,200 to 24.3 billion yuan (2,827 and 2,961 million euros) for the year 2025 resulting from the "intense competition" within the sector.
