- Mehsana Superintendent of Police Himanshu Solanki said a family from Mehsana district, Gujarat, allegedly kidnapped in Libya, with a Rs 2 crore ransom demand, was reported recently.
- The family flew from Ahmedabad to Dubai on November 29 ahead of onward travel from Badalpura village, Mehsana district, with plans to settle in Portugal.
- They were taken to Benghazi City in Libya, where officials identified the victims as Kismatsinh Chavda, his wife Heenaben and daughter Devanshi after transit through Dubai.
- Chavda's kin approached Mehsana Collector SK Prajapati on Friday, who informed the Gujarat government and the Ministry of External Affairs, while BJP MLA CJ Chavda raised the issue with authorities.
- They were travelling with the help of a Portugal-based agent, and local authorities in Mehsana are coordinating with Chavda's relatives to trace the family and attempt their secure return, officials said.
