Deportation Orders Soar in NYC as Trump ‘Mega Master’ Hearings Accelerate

- Judges ordered deportation for at least 71% of no-shows in June, according to analyst Ramsey. Nationwide data from April and May shows 65% of mega master cases resulted in removal orders, with 85% issued in absentia.
- While federal officials defend the hearings as necessary for efficiency, volunteer observer Michele Cantara argues the process creates 'manufactured chaos' stripping due process rights. Individuals ordered removed in absentia can file a motion to reopen their case within 30 days.
