Media boss Antony Catalano to fight charges after allegedly bashing wife
Catalano faces eight charges, including choking and threats to kill, after police allege a one-hour attack left his wife in hospital.
On Wednesday, media executive Antony Catalano appeared via video link at Melbourne Magistrates' Court and confirmed he will contest eight charges, including assault, strangulation, and threats to kill.
Police allege the March 13 incident at a Kilda apartment was unprovoked and lasted one hour, leaving Mrs Catalano hospitalized with a fractured tailbone after she was allegedly heard "pleading for her life."
Defense barrister Tony Hargreaves requested the matter be adjourned until October 16 for a contest mention, though he declined to detail the reasoning for the lengthy delay.
Last month, the court eased bail restrictions for Catalano, permitting him to reunite with his wife and family in Byron Bay while legal proceedings continue.
Stefanie Catalano, the alleged victim, joined the proceedings via video link as the court addressed charges including intentionally choking or suffocating a family member, recklessly causing injury, and making threats to kill.
