Mendocino Man Found Dead Below Steep Beach Cliff

A 65-year-old Mendocino man was found deceased on a beach below a steep cliff Tuesday evening. Authorities say 65-year-old Douglas Shapiro’s injuries are consistent with a fall. The incident occurred in Mendocino Headlands State Park, a known area for cliffside hazards. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death. This is the second such tragedy in the area in recent months.
